India produced a dramatic recovery to defeat New Zealand by two wickets in the second T20I, chasing down the 181-run target with one ball remaining.
The hosts were in trouble at 70 for five, but Naman Dhir and Nitish Kumar Reddy added 57 runs to revive the chase. Tilak Varma then delivered under pressure, smashing an unbeaten 51 off just 26 balls to take India over the line.
Phillips, Santner Shine for New Zealand
New Zealand posted 180 runs after Glenn Phillips struck an aggressive 70 off 43 balls. Captain Mitchell Santner then put India under pressure with the ball, claiming four wickets.
However, New Zealand’s fielding lapses allowed India to regain momentum, while their bowling also faltered during the decisive final overs.
Tilak Varma and Reddy kept their composure under pressure, with India completing the chase on the fifth ball of the final over.
The victory gives India a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
