A driver working for a private ride-hailing service was killed and two passengers were injured after a car crashed into a tree following a tyre burst in Lahore, according to police.
The accident occurred near Cancer Care Hospital, where authorities said the vehicle lost control after one of its tyres burst, leading to a fatal collision with a roadside tree.
Police identified the deceased driver as Usman, son of Amin, a resident of Park View Society. He died at the scene as a result of the impact.
The vehicle involved in the accident, an Alto car bearing registration number BXL-617, reportedly became uncontrollable after the tyre failure before striking the tree.
Two passengers travelling in the car sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Rescue teams and emergency responders reached the site shortly after receiving information about the incident and carried out relief operations.
Officials said preliminary investigations indicate that the crash was caused by a tyre burst. However, further inquiries are underway to determine all circumstances surrounding the accident.
Authorities Urge Vehicle Safety Checks
Following the incident, Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) advised motorists to regularly inspect their vehicle tyres and overall roadworthiness to help prevent similar accidents.
Traffic authorities emphasized that timely maintenance and safety checks can reduce the risk of tyre-related crashes and improve road safety.
