Swat — More than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across Swat as part of a comprehensive Eid-ul-Fitr security plan aimed at maintaining law and order during the festive period, officials said.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Umar Gandapur said security arrangements have been strengthened in markets and on major roads, particularly during the final days of Ramazan and the Eid shopping rush, to ensure public safety.
Enhanced security measures across district
According to police officials, personnel will remain on duty round the clock, with additional deployments in busy commercial areas. Lady police officers have also been assigned duties to facilitate women during shopping and travel.

Authorities said search operations, snap checking, and monitoring at checkpoints are being conducted across the district. Mobile and foot patrols have also been increased to enhance visibility and response time.
Special units and rapid response teams
The DPO said specialised units, including the Ababeel Squad and Quick Response Force, have been activated to respond to any emergency situation during Eid.
These teams will operate alongside regular police units to ensure timely action in case of any untoward incidents.
Tourist facilitation and traffic management
Police have also established tourist facilitation centres at Bab-i-Swat, Malam Jabba, Gabin Jabba, Madyan and Kalam to assist visitors during the holiday period. Personnel will be available at these centres on a 24-hour basis.
In addition, traffic police have been deployed on key routes to manage the flow of vehicles and prevent violations such as one-wheeling.
Officials said the measures are part of broader efforts to ensure a safe and orderly environment for residents and tourists during Eid-ul-Fitr.
