Rawalpindi:
Pakistan has revealed that Indian-origin drones are being used by Afghan Taliban elements in attacks on its territory, as security forces intensify operations under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq along the western border. The disclosure was made by Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who termed it a serious escalation against Pakistan.
Security officials said Pakistani forces have launched decisive retaliatory actions targeting militant infrastructure across multiple sectors. Cross-border shelling has also impacted civilian areas, with casualties reported in Bajaur.
Indian-origin drones used in attacks
The military said the use of Indian-origin drones by militants reflects growing external involvement in destabilising Pakistan’s border regions. Officials stated that recent precision strikes targeted key installations, including an ammunition facility and a drone depot.
Authorities rejected claims of civilian casualties, maintaining that operations were carefully planned to avoid non-combatant harm. Security sources added that a major logistics tunnel in Kandahar was destroyed, disrupting militant capabilities.
Heavy losses inflicted on militants
According to the Information Ministry, at least 684 militants have been killed and over 912 injured during ongoing operations. Officials described the response as part of a broader strategy to eliminate threats and secure Pakistan’s borders.
In Bajaur, cross-border mortar fire resulted in the martyrdom of four civilians, while a child was injured.
Infiltration attempt foiled
Pakistan Army troops also thwarted an infiltration attempt in North Waziristan, killing multiple militants trying to enter the country. The operation in Mowa Khel led to the destruction of several hideouts and forced remaining fighters to flee.
Operation continues across border areas
Officials said Operation Ghazab lil-Haq is ongoing across multiple sectors, with forces maintaining high alert. Authorities emphasised that operations will continue until all hostile elements are neutralised.
The evolving situation highlights Pakistan’s continued efforts to safeguard its territory amid rising cross-border threats.
