ISLAMABAD — Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Senator Rubina Khalid has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the National Press Club, Islamabad, expressing hope that the new leadership will work for the welfare of journalists and address issues faced by the media community.
In a statement, Senator Rubina Khalid extended her congratulations to newly elected President Abdul Razzaq Sial and Secretary Rao Furqan. She also congratulated Finance Secretary Abid Abbasi and Vice Presidents Usman Khan, Bashir Chaudhry, and Ihteshamul Haq on their election.

The BISP chairperson also congratulated Joint Secretaries Aoun Shirazi, Shiraz Gardezi, and Javed Bhagat, as well as Saharish Qureshi on her election as Vice President for Women. She extended her greetings to Shakeela Jalil on being elected as Women Joint Secretary.
Rubina Khalid said the election of new representatives reflects the confidence of the journalist community in their leadership.

She said that a free and strong press is an essential pillar of democracy and plays a vital role in promoting democratic values in society.
The senator added that the journalist community has been contributing significantly to strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring the flow of information in the country.
Expressing optimism about the new leadership, Rubina Khalid said she hopes the newly elected office-bearers will actively work to resolve the challenges faced by journalists and promote professional standards within the media sector.
