MARDAN: Under the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and the Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, authorities have pledged to intensify efforts to ensure the availability of safe, hygienic and quality food under the “Badalta Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Campaign.”

Assistant Director Haripur Ruqia Nawaz Khan gave a detailed briefing on the campaign at her office, outlining its objectives and key priorities.

She said strict and indiscriminate legal action would be taken against individuals and businesses involved in food adulteration, the sale of substandard food products or practices that could endanger public health.

Food businesses will be required to comply with prescribed hygiene standards, food safety laws and quality requirements, while violators will face legal action in accordance with the law.

Ruqia Nawaz Khan also urged media representatives to play a positive role in raising public awareness about the dangers of food adulteration, the importance of consuming safe and healthy food, and the need to protect public health.

She said stronger cooperation between government institutions and the media could help ensure the availability of quality and adulteration-free food.

Media representatives welcomed the “Badalta Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Campaign” as an important public-interest initiative and assured the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority of their cooperation in promoting awareness through responsible journalism.

Participants expressed hope that coordinated efforts by government institutions and the media would improve food quality, curb adulteration and help ensure safe and healthy food for the public.
