State Bank Announces Two-Day Bank Holiday Across Pakistan for Ashura Observance

The State Bank of Pakistan has announced a two-day closure of all commercial and government banks across the country in connection with the observance of 9th and 10th Muharram (Ashura).

The decision affects banking services nationwide, including branch-based transactions, customer service operations, and inter-bank processing. The closure has been announced under a government directive, while digital banking services will continue to operate during the holiday period.

According to an official notification issued by the central bank, all banks will remain closed on Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26. Normal banking operations will resume on Monday, June 29.

The State Bank of Pakistan stated that the decision applies to all public and private sector banks across the country, and customers have been advised to complete essential financial transactions in advance.

While physical branches will remain closed, online banking platforms, mobile applications, and ATM services will continue to function to facilitate customers during the holiday period.
