ISLAMABAD, October 19, 2026: StarCharge and McDonald’s Pakistan have signed a cooperation agreement to introduce electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at selected McDonald’s locations across Pakistan, allowing customers to charge their vehicles while dining.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony attended by Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, McDonald’s Pakistan Chief Operating Officer Jamil Mughal and StarCharge Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Omar Malik, along with representatives of both companies.

The partnership aims to expand access to EV charging infrastructure by combining StarCharge’s charging technology with McDonald’s established restaurant network.

Under the arrangement, charging facilities will be introduced at suitable McDonald’s locations, offering EV owners a convenient option to recharge their vehicles during restaurant visits.

Rana Tanveer Hussain welcomes EV charging partnership

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain welcomed the collaboration, describing such partnerships as important for expanding electric mobility and encouraging investment in cleaner transportation.

He appreciated StarCharge Pakistan CEO Omar Malik’s efforts to develop EV charging infrastructure and highlighted the role of private-sector cooperation in supporting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for electric mobility.

The minister said partnerships between technology providers and established businesses could contribute to the development of charging facilities needed to support the adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan.

Referring to his earlier visit to StarCharge’s manufacturing facilities in China, Rana Tanveer Hussain expressed confidence in the company’s technological capabilities.

McDonald’s locations to offer EV charging convenience

The agreement brings together StarCharge’s international experience in EV charging solutions and McDonald’s Pakistan’s restaurant network to improve access to charging facilities.

The planned installations would allow customers to charge their electric vehicles while visiting participating restaurants, integrating charging services into everyday activities.

The companies aim to make electric mobility more practical and accessible by introducing charging infrastructure at locations already used by consumers.

The cooperation also reflects growing private-sector interest in supporting Pakistan’s transition towards cleaner transport through partnerships involving technology and consumer-facing businesses.

Agreement supports Pakistan’s electric mobility plans

The initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to encourage electric vehicle adoption and expand supporting infrastructure.

Accessible charging facilities are an important requirement for EV users, particularly as Pakistan seeks to develop a wider network of charging points.

The StarCharge-McDonald’s Pakistan partnership is intended to contribute to that network by introducing charging services at suitable restaurant locations.

The companies did not announce the number of charging stations planned, their proposed locations or a timeline for installation during the signing ceremony.
