Spotify Hits 300 Million Premium Subscribers as Q2 Revenue Reaches €4.8 Billion

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: Spotify became the first audio-streaming platform to reach 300 million Premium subscribers during the second quarter of 2026, as the company reported stronger revenue growth, record gross margins and higher operating income.

The streaming company said Premium subscriptions increased 9% year on year, while monthly active users rose 12% to 777 million. Total revenue climbed 14% to €4.8 billion, or 15% on a constant-currency basis.

Spotify’s gross margin improved by around 193 basis points from a year earlier to a record 33.4%, while operating income reached €655 million.

Subscriber and user growth strengthens Spotify results

The latest results underline Spotify’s continued expansion across music, podcasts, audiobooks and other audio formats.

The company said it had continued rolling out features designed to improve content discovery, user engagement and interaction between audiences, artists, creators, authors and commercial partners.

Spotify Co-Chief Executive Alex Norström said the company’s scale and financial position created opportunities to expand its role across different parts of users’ daily lives.

He said Spotify was used during activities including commuting, exercise, study, gaming, dining and sleep, giving the company a broad platform for future product development.

Spotify highlights product and engineering investment

Co-Chief Executive Gustav Söderström said Spotify had improved its engineering operations, accelerated product launches and introduced new ways for users to engage with the platform.

He said the company remained at an early stage of its long-term development and would continue applying a high threshold to new investments.

Spotify said its focus remained on understanding emerging technologies and converting them into products and services that deliver value to users and other stakeholders.

The company directed investors to its Investor Relations platform for the complete financial results and webcast discussion.

Spotify noted that constant-currency adjusted figures are non-IFRS financial measures.
