Sindh Warns Private Schools of Registration Cancellation

The Sindh government has warned private schools that unauthorized fee increases and the collection of unapproved charges could result in the suspension or cancellation of their registration. The warning follows complaints that some schools are charging parents fees beyond those approved by the registration authority.

The directive was issued by Additional Director General of Private Institutions Sindh, Professor Rafia Mallah, who instructed all private school managements to comply with the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2005.

Schools told to charge only approved fees

According to the official circular, the department has received complaints that some private schools are collecting tuition fees higher than the approved amount, while others are imposing additional or hidden charges without prior authorization.

The circular states that under Rule 7(4) of the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2005, schools cannot collect any fee other than the approved tuition fee without obtaining prior approval from the registration authority.

The education department warned that violations of Rule 7(6), including charging unauthorized tuition or additional fees, constitute an offence under the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Ordinance, 2001, and may result in fines and other legal action.

School administrations have also been directed to prominently display approved fee schedules on school notice boards and at reception areas, and to provide copies to parents upon request.

Registration at risk for non-compliant schools

The circular states that schools found violating the regulations may face suspension or cancellation of their registration certificates under Section 8 of the ordinance.

In addition, all unregistered private schools have been directed to apply for registration through the official online portal within 15 days. Authorities also warned that institutions failing to meet the required educational standards may be denied registration and could face closure, with affected students to be accommodated in nearby schools.
