Shehryar Afridi Reviews Kohat Sewage Project and WSSC Digital Reforms

KOHAT: MNA Shehryar Khan Afridi on Wednesday inspected the under-construction sewage treatment plant in KDA and reviewed digital reforms introduced by Water and Sanitation Services Company Kohat.

The visit focused on the progress of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project sewage scheme, which is expected to improve wastewater management, sanitation and environmental protection for residents of Kohat.

Afridi was accompanied by Kohat Division Commissioner Moatasim Billah Shah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz, and WSSC Kohat Board Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Saad.

Infrastructure Engineer Zafarullah Orakzai briefed the delegation on construction progress, technical features and the expected public health and environmental benefits of the project.

Officials said the modern sewage treatment facility was being developed to improve the handling of wastewater and strengthen sanitation services in the city.

Afridi directed the relevant authorities to maintain construction standards and complete the project within the approved timeframe.

He also called for faster restoration of roads in KDA to reduce inconvenience caused to residents by the ongoing construction work.

Commissioner Moatasim Billah Shah and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz also stressed the need to maintain the pace and quality of work.

WSSC Kohat Presents Digital Systems

The delegation later visited the WSSC Kohat headquarters, where officials briefed them on the company’s digital transformation and administrative reforms.

The systems include a Complaint Management System, Decision Support System, Human Resource Management System, Water Asset Management System and Fleet Management System.

WSSC officials said the digital tools were intended to improve service delivery, strengthen institutional performance and support more efficient use of resources.

The systems are also designed to improve transparency and help the company make operational decisions using updated data.

The delegation reviewed the reforms and the company’s efforts to modernise municipal water and sanitation services through technology.
