ISLAMABAD: In 2023, Safe City Islamabad successfully dealt with traffic infractions by sending out 222,195 e-challans. The Safe City Command and Control Center was essential in putting traffic laws into effect. It focused on a number of infractions, including driving without a seat belt, using fancy license plates improperly, running red lights, speeding, and using cell phones while operating a vehicle. A police spokeswoman said that the breakdown of these e-challans is as follows: 4,495 for seat belt violations, 206,747 for overspeeding, 431 for using a mobile phone while driving, 2,008 for zigzag crossing, 3,896 for fancy number plates, and 4,619 for red signal infractions.

The increase in the number of e-challans issued in 2023 was a calculated move to reduce traffic infractions, with the main goal being to increase adherence to the law and hence reduce traffic accidents. The CPO Safe City/Traffic emphasized the commitment to ensuring peace and security in the federal capital while prioritizing the safety of citizens’ lives and property. The Islamabad Capital Police’s key objective continues to be the implementation of strict traffic laws, which guarantees a more secure and safe environment for everybody.
