Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board’s recent changes to the national team and called for the removal of selection committee member and High Performance director Aqib Javed.
Ajmal questioned the timing of the decisions, saying major changes to the squad, coaching staff and selection committee during an ongoing series were difficult to understand. He argued that such decisions should have been made after the England tour.
Ajmal Questions PCB Decisions
In a video message, Ajmal said Pakistan was being criticised internationally for releasing players immediately after matches and described the approach as inappropriate.
He also said that if any wrongdoing by Imam-ul-Haq was established, the player should face appropriate disciplinary action so that it could serve as an example for others.
Ajmal specifically questioned why Aqib Javed remained in his position while other members of the coaching setup had been removed.
Referring to former head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and current white-ball coach Mike Hesson, Ajmal questioned the PCB’s decision-making and asked what results Hesson had delivered in white-ball cricket.
Changes Follow Test Defeats
The PCB made major changes to Pakistan’s Test squad and coaching setup following defeats in the first two Tests against England.
Seven players were released from the squad ahead of the third Test, while head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also removed from their positions.
Ajmal’s comments come amid continued debate over the PCB’s handling of the national team and the timing of its personnel decisions.
