KARACHI: Senior Pakistani actress Sabahat Bukhari has opened up about the painful experience of being separated from her daughter for nearly 30 years, recalling how she lost contact with the child following the breakdown of her first marriage.
Speaking on a podcast, Bukhari said her first marriage ended when her daughter was around one and a half years old. She alleged that her in-laws took the child away from her after the divorce and that she was never allowed to meet her daughter despite pursuing legal action.
According to the actress, her former in-laws later moved to another location, making it difficult for her to trace her daughter. She said the separation continued for decades, leaving her without any direct contact with the child.
Bukhari further revealed that her former husband had allegedly told their daughter that her mother had died.
Daughter Reconnects With Sabahat Bukhari After 30 Years
The actress said the situation changed after her former husband passed away around 30 years later. She said family members eventually told her daughter about her mother.
Her daughter later contacted Bukhari through social media, allowing the two to reconnect after decades apart.
Bukhari said she has now been reunited with her daughter, who is married. The actress described the reunion as a deeply emotional moment after years of separation.
