Chinese continuous investment in pharmaceutical industries’ innovation, research, bioengineering, successful vaccine development especially during Covid-19 pandemic, and latest manufacturing has resulted the China in development of the world’s largest pharmaceutical industries.
The good for Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry’s future by MoUs of USD 850 Million during Pak-China Pharma Conference held in July 2026; participated by almost 500 local and international delegates and business representatives. The cooperation can further be strengthened by establishing a Pakistan-China Pharma Gateway.
This cooperation can reduce a spending of foreign currency of USD 1.2 Billion in importing vaccines estimated by 2030. Agreements with Chinese companies will outcome local production of raw material, as now 90% is being imported. Government of Pakistan has approved for the first time to produce vaccine at the local level with the assistance from Chinese companies. It is being hoped that this mutual cooperation can make Pakistan an exporter of the vaccines in future.
Already Pakistan’s pharmaceutical regulations had recognized internationally, for drug testing by WHO pre-qualifying local laboratories; capability of Pakistan’s Pharma industry was witnessed by the participation of a large number of Chinese companies in the conference.
China and Pakistan as “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership”, stamped again by showing interest and confirming the MoUs with Pakistan’s Pharma industries, the only country, first of all, stepped forward.
Now in establishing plants in Pakistan through JVs and producer raw materials etc, will be involved in creating more opportunities for job-seekers, investors and industrialists; and Pakistan’s government is planning to provide a clean environment in issuing NOCs and other relevant requirements; by considering it as a prime chance.
