A significant milestone has been achieved for players and fans alike as the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi has been refurbished for hosting national and international hockey tournaments. Through the collaborative efforts of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and the Pakistan Army, the long-neglected stadium now offers a vibrant setting for hockey enthusiasts.
Upon the completion of renovations, the 68th DHA Karachi National Hockey Championship was held, drawing enthusiastic crowds. Fourteen teams competed in the championship, with Pakistan Customs facing National Bank and Mari Petroleum clashing with Air Force in the semifinals.
The final featured an intense showdown between Pakistan Customs and Mari Petroleum, where Pakistan Customs triumphed with a nail-biting 10-9 victory, claiming the championship title.
Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi, graced the event as the chief guest and distributed awards to the participants. He commended the players for their spirit and emphasized that hockey is Pakistan’s national game, urging every citizen and stakeholder to contribute to its promotion.
