Mirpur – Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, a distinguished and highly respected physician of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was laid to rest today in the presence of thousands of mourners. Dr.Muhammad Akram Chaudhry passed away yesterday due to cardiac arrest. His funeral prayers were held at the Central Eidgah F-1, attended by a large number of political leaders, senior government officials, medical professionals, and citizens from all walks of life.
Among the prominent attendees were AJK Minister for Physical Planning and Housing Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice Azam Khan, Accountability Court Judge Raja Faisal Majeed, former High Court Judge Justice Chaudhry Jehandad, District Council Chairman Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, Central Zakat Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, former advisers Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf and Chaudhry Haq Nawaz, and former assembly candidates Raja Zafar Maroof, Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq, and Chaudhry Waqas Ashraf.
Also in attendance were DIG Dr. Liaqat Ali, Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz, State Management Director of Mirpur Development Authority Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal, SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat, SP Raja Amir Shehzad Nawabi, District Health Officer Dr. Fida Hussain Raja, Principal of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Professor Dr. Faisal Bashir, Vice Principal Professor Dr. Tariq Masood, and Dr. Mian Asghar.
Other notable figures included former Information Secretary Shaukat Majeed Malik, former DG Health Dr. Bashir Chaudhry, former Government Secretary Chaudhry Munir Hussain, AJK Bank Director Chaudhry Muhammad Arif, former Commissioner Raja Fazal-ur-Rehman, former SSPs Chaudhry Munir Hussain and Raja Azhar Iqbal, former Director of Mian Muhammad Bakhsh Library Professor Zubair Ahmed Qazi, former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Raja Habib-ur-Rehman, and former MDA Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif.
Representatives from various sectors including PMA President Dr. Raja Muhammad Ijaz Khan, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Umar Shehzad Jarral, former Chamber President Syed Sabir Hussain Shah, Traders’ Association leader Chaudhry Javed Iqbal, Suhail Shuja Mujahid, Raja Khalid Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, DHQ Hospital Admin Officer Rajab Hussain Shah, former President of Charhoi Bar Raja Akbar Khan Advocate, former DEO Chaudhry Muhammad Ajaib, renowned banker Raja Muhammad Arif Khan, former State Officer MD Tahir Jarral, NAB official Raja Amir-ul-Hassan, Exen WAPDA Waqar Hanif, and religious scholars including Allama Ilyas Qadri, Allama Shamim Naumani, Allama Tauseef Hussain Shah, Qari Shafiq-ur-Rehman, and Allama Masoom were also present.
A large number of lawyers, journalists, business community members, medical staff, civil society representatives, political and social leaders, local councilors, and citizens from across the region attended the funeral to pay their respects to the late Dr.Muhammad Akhtar Chaudhry.
