RAWALPINDI: Security has been tightened across Rawalpindi’s Red Zone, with additional police personnel deployed to protect key government buildings and installations amid the prevailing security situation.
Eight dedicated police pickets have been established at different locations from Mall Road to the Old Airport area, while round-the-clock mobile patrolling has also been arranged after the Red Zone was divided into four sectors.
Police Pickets Established at Key Locations
Police pickets have been established at MH Chowk, TM Flashman Chowk and Saddar Metro Station. Additional pickets have also been deployed at T&T Chowk, Arya Bazaar Road, 22 Number Chungi and Shalimar Chowk-Maaraka-e-Haq Square.
Personnel at the pickets will work in two 12-hour shifts to maintain continuous security coverage.
Elite commandos have also been assigned security duties, while security has been strengthened at important locations along the route from Mall Road to the Old Airport.
Dolphin Force Assigned Patrol Duties
The Dolphin Force has been assigned round-the-clock patrol responsibilities in designated areas. Police personnel deployed at pickets and on patrol have been directed to remain alert throughout their shifts.
SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob will oversee security arrangements in the Red Zone, while Rawalpindi CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera will supervise command and control operations.
