Popular Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt has come under criticism on social media after making an appeal to fans ahead of the release of his debut film.
In a video message shared on Instagram, Rajab asked his followers to make sure they watch his film and start saving Rs1,000 to Rs2,000 for their cinema tickets and popcorn.
The YouTuber said he wants to see the same overwhelming response in cinemas that his fans have shown on YouTube, where they helped his content break several records.
He also described the upcoming movie as a complete family entertainer and encouraged his followers to support his debut on the big screen.
However, his request triggered sarcastic reactions from several social media users. Some users criticized the appeal, while others said they would not watch the film.
Rajab Butt’s debut is an action-comedy film directed by Syed Faisal Bukhari. The movie is currently being filmed in Punjab.
The controversy has drawn additional attention to the upcoming film even before its theatrical release.
