The highly anticipated Ligue 1 clash between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Olympique Lyonnais has been postponed by a day due to ongoing anti-government protests and security concerns in the French capital.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at 8:45 pm local time at Parc des Princes, PSG’s home stadium in Paris.
However, French authorities ordered the postponement amid concerns over public safety and security arrangements during the demonstrations.
According to international media reports, the decision was taken following instructions from the Paris police authorities.
Olympique Lyonnais confirmed the schedule change through an official statement shared on social media.
The club said the Ligue 1 McDonald’s eighth-round fixture between PSG and Lyon would no longer take place at its originally scheduled time.
Following consultations between the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and Ligue 1+, the match has been rescheduled for Monday, October 26, at 8:30 pm local time.
The postponement means football supporters will have to wait an additional day for the encounter between two of France’s prominent football clubs.
The decision reflects the impact of the ongoing demonstrations on major sporting events in Paris, where authorities must coordinate security arrangements for large public gatherings.
Despite the change in schedule, the match remains set to take place at Parc des Princes, with both teams expected to face each other on Monday evening.
