President Zardari Approves Hilal-e-Pakistan for UN Special Envoy on Combating Islamophobia

ISLAMABAD, Jul 16, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday approved the conferment of the Hilal-e-Pakistan on Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the United Nations Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia.

The civil award was approved on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a statement issued by the President House.

Moratinos serves as the UN special envoy tasked with promoting international efforts to counter Islamophobia and strengthen dialogue among communities.

In a separate decision, President Zardari accepted the resignation of Fazal-e-Haq Abbasi as a member of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.

The president also approved the appointment of Zafar Hasan as a member of the Federal Public Service Commission on the prime minister’s recommendation.

The approvals were made through separate official summaries submitted to the president.
