ABBOTTABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central leader Capt (Retd) Muhammad Safdar has called for greater responsibility in political discourse, saying the recent remarks attributed to JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman were presented in a distorted manner.
Speaking at the Abbottabad Press Club during a ceremony to congratulate its newly elected cabinet, Safdar said political differences should not undermine respect for religious scholars and national institutions.
Calls for Respectful Political Debate
Safdar said there is a need to establish standards in politics and avoid abusive language in public discourse.
He described Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a respected religious scholar and said his statement had been misrepresented. Safdar also criticised remarks made against the JUI-F leader, urging greater respect in political debate.
Comments on Kashmir and National Politics
The PML-N leader expressed confidence that his party would perform well in the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections.
He also commented on the Kashmir issue, saying political stability is essential for advancing Pakistan’s position. Safdar criticised those he alleged were seeking political gains after being denied party tickets and reiterated his party’s stance on national issues.
Highlights Development Projects in Hazara
Safdar said the establishment of the Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) was a significant development for the region. He stated that local residents would benefit from employment opportunities and noted that electricity infrastructure in Hazara is being upgraded.
He also urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to allocate land for a Danish School in Torghar’s Kala Dhaka area, saying the project had yet to be implemented.
Press Club Congratulates New Cabinet
Abbottabad Press Club President Sardar Naveed Alam thanked Capt (Retd) Muhammad Safdar for attending the ceremony and congratulating the newly elected office-bearers.
He said Safdar has regularly attended the Press Club’s annual events and acknowledged his honorary membership of the Abbottabad Press Club.
