RAWALPINDI: PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi has launched a renewed initiative to strengthen alumni relations and expand global networking opportunities for its graduates.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, attended by senior officials including the Director Financial Assistance, Director Quality Enhancement, and representatives from various faculties, departments, and administrative units.
Focus on stronger alumni connections
The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of alumni as ambassadors of the university, highlighting the need for a structured and sustainable engagement system with graduates both within Pakistan and abroad.
It was unanimously agreed that each department and institute will appoint a focal person responsible for alumni coordination, communication, and the development of an Alumni Scholarship and Student Support Fund.
Annual events and networking platforms
To enhance engagement, departments have been directed to organize annual alumni dinners, reunions, seminars, or networking events. These gatherings aim to strengthen professional and academic ties between former and current students, while also creating mentorship opportunities and collaboration channels.
Global alumni chapters planned
The university also plans to identify graduates living abroad and establish alumni chapters in different countries. These international networks are expected to improve the university’s global presence and support academic, research, and professional linkages.
Improved communication systems
The Vice Chancellor further instructed relevant departments to enhance communication through updated alumni databases, digital platforms, newsletters, and social media channels to ensure continuous engagement.
Officials said the initiative aims to transform the alumni network into a dynamic community contributing to institutional development and national progress.
