Pink Ribbon Day Seminar at Arid University Sparks Breast Cancer Awareness

RAWALPINDI — In observance of Pink Ribbon Day, the Women Development Studies Center (WDSC) at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organized a breast cancer awareness seminar to highlight the importance of early detection, regular screenings, and self-examinations.

Leadership Emphasizes Sustained Awareness and Support

Addressing the seminar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman stressed that breast cancer awareness should not be limited to annual observances like Pink Ribbon Day, but must be a continuous effort. He emphasized the role of preventive education, healthy lifestyle choices, and emotional support for patients and their families.

Dr. Qaisara Parveen, Director of WDSC, underscored the importance of involving families in the awareness process. “We need to provide awareness to the patient as well as her family so that no woman feels alone in this battle,” she said, encouraging a culture of empathy and support.

Community Engagement Through Awareness Walk

The Pink Ribbon Day seminar concluded with an awareness walk led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman. He was joined by the university registrar, deans, directors, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of students. The walk served as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with breast cancer patients and reinforced the university’s commitment to health education and community well-being.
