Lahore Petrol Shortage: Pakistan Left With 15 Days of Fuel Stocks

2 Min Read

LAHORE: Petrol shortages were reported at several filling stations in Lahore as oil marketing companies warned that Pakistan’s available stocks may cover only around 15 days of demand.

Motorists said regular petrol was unavailable at a number of pumps, where staff allegedly advised customers to purchase the more expensive high-octane fuel instead.

The extent and expected duration of the disruption have not yet been officially confirmed by the federal government or the petroleum regulator.

Oil marketing companies have urged the government to intervene, warning that delays in arranging supplies or addressing distribution problems could affect the availability of motor spirit, commonly sold as petrol.

Industry representatives reportedly informed the authorities that the country currently had petrol stocks sufficient for approximately 15 days.

The companies cautioned that supplies could come under further pressure unless timely measures were taken to maintain imports and ensure smooth distribution across the country.

Pakistan relies heavily on imported petroleum products, making domestic fuel supplies vulnerable to changes in global prices, shipping availability and disruptions in international supply routes.

Authorities have yet to clarify whether the shortages reported in Lahore are linked to limited national stocks, local distribution delays or inventory management at individual filling stations.
