PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has restored electricity supply to all 148 affected feeders within 36 hours after heavy monsoon rains and strong winds caused widespread power disruptions across its operational region.

According to a report issued by PESCO on Saturday, the severe weather began on Monday night last week and continued for nearly 12 hours, triggering outages across multiple districts. The storm damaged 23 electricity poles, snapped power lines at several locations and caused 148 feeders to trip, disrupting electricity supply to thousands of consumers.

PESCO said it had completed extensive pre-monsoon preparedness measures, enabling its field teams to respond immediately despite the harsh weather conditions. Staff remained on duty throughout the night, restoring electricity to 42 affected feeders by Tuesday morning.

Restoration work continued around the clock, with technical teams repairing or replacing all 23 damaged poles and installing nearly 4,000 metres of new power lines where electricity infrastructure had been damaged.

The utility said power supply to all affected feeders was fully restored within 36 hours through coordinated field operations and emergency response efforts.

To speed up the restoration process, PESCO deployed additional technical teams and ensured the timely availability of transformers. In several cases, transformers were transported between cities to restore electricity to affected consumers as quickly as possible.

PESCO Chief Executive Officer Akhtar Hamid Khan praised the company’s field staff for working tirelessly in difficult weather conditions and successfully restoring electricity across the region within a short period.
