PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is reportedly considering further changes to the Pakistan cricket setup following the national team’s defeats in the ongoing England tour.
According to sources, Naqvi is disappointed with the performances of senior and experienced players and has instructed the selection committee not to give repeated opportunities to experienced cricketers after continued failures.
Greater Focus on Young Players
Naqvi is reportedly seeking to promote younger players who can take responsibility for the national team in the future. Under the proposed approach, Under-19 and other junior cricketers could receive greater opportunities and backing as part of a longer-term rebuilding strategy.
The developments come after Pakistan suffered consecutive defeats in the first two Test matches of the England tour, triggering further changes within the team and management.
Major Changes Already Underway
The Pakistan Cricket Board has already made several changes during the tour. Seven players — Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, Ali Usman, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad — have reportedly been removed from the squad.
The board has also removed head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul from their positions.
The latest developments have created uncertainty within the Pakistan team, with further decisions expected as the PCB reviews the side’s recent performances.
