Islamabad, July 22, 2026: A delegation from Istanbul Bar Association No. 2 and the Pakistan Bar Council met the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan on Wednesday to discuss constitutional law, judicial reforms, legal education and stronger institutional cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement issued by the court, the meeting focused on comparative constitutional jurisprudence, judicial independence, bar-bench relations and opportunities for knowledge exchange between Pakistani and Turkish legal institutions.
The Turkish delegation was led by Istanbul Bar Association No. 2 President Yasin Şamlı and included Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Irfan Neziroğlu.
Representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council, including Vice Chairman Pir Masood Chishti, also accompanied the delegation during the visit to the court in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the Chief Justice briefed the delegation on the constitutional mandate and jurisdiction of the Federal Constitutional Court.
The court said discussions covered its role in constitutional interpretation, protection of fundamental rights and strengthening constitutional governance.
The delegation was also shown an institutional documentary outlining the court’s establishment, jurisdiction and organisational development.
Participants exchanged views on judicial reforms, legal education, comparative constitutional law and potential collaboration between bar associations, courts and legal education institutions.
Both sides agreed to encourage professional exchanges and strengthen cooperation between the legal communities of Pakistan and Türkiye.
The Turkish delegates said closer interaction between lawyers, judges and academic institutions could support the sharing of legal expertise and promote a better understanding of both countries’ constitutional systems.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
The court said it would continue engagement with foreign constitutional courts, bar associations and legal institutions to promote judicial cooperation and the rule of law.
