KARACHI, July 30, 2026: Pakistan Navy Ship Taimur has rescued 19 Pakistani and Iranian fishermen after their vessel suffered engine failure in rough weather in the North Arabian Sea, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

The fishing vessel, FV Al Jalali, became stranded around 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar while carrying 11 Pakistani and eight Iranian crew members. Their lives were placed at immediate risk as weather conditions deteriorated during the ongoing monsoon season.

According to the Directorate General Public Relations of Pakistan Navy, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre received the distress alert and immediately coordinated a search and rescue operation.

PNS Taimur was subsequently directed to reach the disabled vessel and provide emergency assistance to the stranded crew.

The naval ship located FV Al Jalali and supplied its crew with food and drinking water. Medical assistance was also provided to the fishermen at sea.

After ensuring the safety of all 19 crew members, Pakistan Navy personnel secured the fishing vessel and towed it towards the shore.

No casualties or injuries were reported during the rescue operation.

Pakistan Navy said the successful mission demonstrated its operational readiness and commitment to safeguarding lives at sea, particularly during emergencies involving commercial and fishing vessels operating in regional waters.

The North Arabian Sea frequently experiences rough conditions during the monsoon season, increasing risks for fishing boats and smaller vessels, particularly when they encounter mechanical failures far from the coastline.

The rescue of FV Al Jalali also highlights maritime coordination between Pakistan’s naval and information-sharing authorities in responding to distress calls within the country’s search and rescue area.
