Pakistan Navy hosts Chinese warship for Sea Guardian exercise

Rawalpindi, March 25: The Pakistan Navy has welcomed a Chinese naval vessel, PLA Navy Ship DAQING, for participation in the fourth edition of the bilateral Sea Guardian exercise, aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation between Pakistan and China.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the ship arrived in Pakistan on March 25 and was received with a ceremonial welcome, including escort into port by Pakistan Navy ships.

Joint exercise activities

The Sea Guardian exercise, scheduled to run until April 2, will include both harbour and sea-phase activities. These are expected to involve professional exchanges, a seminar for young officers on contemporary maritime issues, and coordinated operational drills.

Naval units from both countries will also conduct gunnery exercises, coordinated patrols and other maritime security operations designed to enhance interoperability and operational coordination.

Focus on maritime cooperation

Officials say the exercise reflects ongoing defence cooperation between Pakistan and China and aims to improve coordination in maintaining maritime security. The series is also intended to facilitate knowledge-sharing and strengthen professional ties between the two navies.

The Sea Guardian exercises are part of broader efforts to promote stability and cooperation in the regional maritime environment.
