John Kirby, the National Security Spokesperson for Joe Biden, stated in his remarks that Pakistan has never been an ally of the United States, nor has there ever been any formal alliance agreement between the two countries.
During a press conference in Washington about Biden’s administration’s foreign policy, Kirby acknowledged that while the US and Pakistan have been partners in the war on terrorism, the threat of terrorism, especially at the Pak-Afghan border, still remains. He emphasized that the Pakistani people are still under the threat of terrorism.
Kirby also pointed out that terrorism from Afghan soil continues to affect Pakistan. The Pakistani people remain impacted by terrorism, and the US, during its tenure, has remained committed to addressing common challenges in partnership with Pakistan. He further asserted that this policy has not changed, and will not change.
When asked about the Biden administration’s failure to establish peace in the Middle East, Kirby responded that if an agreement were reached between Israel and Hamas, it would be the result of efforts made by the Biden administration.
