ISLAMABAD, Apr 7 — Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba formally presented his credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari during a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, marking the start of his diplomatic mission as Ethiopia’s envoy to Pakistan.
Following the credential ceremony, the two sides held a meeting to review Ethiopia-Pakistan relations, with discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors including climate change, aviation, agriculture and trade.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening engagement at bilateral and multilateral levels, highlighting opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed greetings from Ethiopian President Taye Atske Selassie and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, while also acknowledging Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies aimed at enhancing ties with African nations.
President Zardari reciprocated the greetings and expressed Pakistan’s interest in further strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with Ethiopia. He also extended best wishes to the ambassador for his tenure in Islamabad.
Ambassador Dr. Oumer reaffirmed his commitment to working with Pakistani authorities to promote a mutually beneficial partnership during his assignment.
