KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Labour, Human Resources and Social Security Saeed Ghani on Friday inaugurated the Pakistan First Furniture Trade Show 2026 at the Expo Centre Karachi, highlighting the furniture industry’s potential to create jobs, boost exports, and strengthen Pakistan’s economy.
The three-day exhibition, organised by Horizon Events, brings together leading furniture manufacturers and brands from across the country to showcase modern designs, innovative products, and special promotional offers.
Saeed Ghani highlights industry’s economic potential
Addressing the opening ceremony, Saeed Ghani said Pakistan’s furniture industry possesses significant growth potential and can play an important role in employment generation, industrial development, and export expansion.
He stressed the need to encourage young people to pursue careers in the sector while supporting local manufacturers to enhance Pakistan’s presence in international furniture markets.
Exhibition offers discounts of up to 70%
The minister said the trade show also provides consumers with an opportunity to purchase quality furniture at discounts of up to 70%.
He noted that exhibitions of this nature not only make quality products more affordable for the public but also encourage local manufacturers, stimulate business activity, and contribute to the growth of domestic industries.
Platform for local manufacturers
Earlier, Horizon Events Chief Organiser Rashid Ansari said the exhibition aims to provide Pakistan’s furniture industry with a national platform, connect manufacturers with new business opportunities, and promote locally made furniture in international markets.
Industry seeks government support
Pakistan Furniture Association Vice President Rana Waheed said the furniture sector supports the livelihoods of thousands of families and has the potential to become a major contributor to the national economy.
He called for government support in the form of modern machinery, improved access to raw materials, financial assistance, and export promotion to help the industry expand further.
He added that trade exhibitions play a key role in attracting investment, strengthening business networks, and creating new commercial opportunities.
Three-day exhibition underway
Following the inauguration, Saeed Ghani visited various exhibition stalls, met with exhibitors, and congratulated the organisers on successfully hosting the event.
