ISLAMABAD, November 4, 2026: Pakistan Customs has detected an alleged import fraud involving goods valued at Rs277 million at Karachi Port, with authorities identifying an attempted evasion of approximately Rs108 million in customs duties and taxes.

The Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi, uncovered the discrepancies during a physical inspection of a consignment imported by Blooming Buds Industries, a manufacturing unit registered with the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Risalpur.

According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the importer had declared the shipment as artificial flowers, machine parts and spray. However, customs officials found load cells, perfumes and cosmetics instead.

The goods were also inconsistent with the items authorised under the company’s EPZ licence, which permits it to manufacture and export artificial flowers and plants.

Customs records show that Blooming Buds Industries filed transshipment declaration TP-GD No. KAPS-TP-53641 on September 26, 2026, for the movement of goods from Karachi Port to EPZ Risalpur.

Officials said the discrepancies indicated an attempt to bypass customs regulations through misdeclaration of imported merchandise.

The assessed value of the consignment stands at approximately Rs277 million, while the estimated duties and taxes allegedly sought to be evaded amount to Rs108 million.

Pakistan Customs has initiated legal proceedings, including contravention proceedings against those allegedly involved. The process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the importer and suspected facilitators is also underway.

The FBR said further details would be released as the investigation progresses.
