ISLAMABAD, November 4, 2026: Spotify has launched its audiobook service in Pakistan, allowing Free and Premium users to access more than 100,000 English-language titles through a paid subscription or purchase individual audiobooks without a monthly plan.

The service, available from November 4, introduces an Audiobooks+ subscription priced at Rs489 per month, offering 15 hours of listening. Users who exhaust their monthly allowance can purchase an additional 10 hours for Rs579.

According to Spotify, only time spent actively listening will count towards the allowance, which resets at the beginning of each billing cycle.

The company is also offering individual audiobook purchases for listeners who prefer to own specific titles rather than subscribe to a recurring plan.

The launch introduces a dedicated Audiobooks section within the Spotify app, where users can browse, search and discover titles from the platform’s global English-language catalogue.

Listeners can download audiobooks for offline access, use automatic bookmarking and set a sleep timer. Spotify’s Page Match feature also allows users to switch between printed or electronic books and their audiobook versions while maintaining their reading position.

Listening progress can be saved across compatible devices, enabling users to continue an audiobook on their phones, in vehicles or through connected speakers.

To access the service, users need to update the Spotify app, open the Audiobooks section or search for a title, and select the Audiobooks+ option. Subscription management is available through Spotify’s account settings.

The Pakistan launch follows Spotify’s announcement at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 7 that it plans to expand audiobook availability to more than 180 markets by the end of 2026.

Owen Smith, Spotify’s Vice President of Audiobooks, said the expansion would make books more accessible to listeners while helping authors and publishers reach new audiences.

“For a lot of people, audiobooks are how they find their way back to reading,” Smith said, highlighting their appeal during commuting, walking and other daily activities.

Spotify reported that its monthly audiobook audience grew nearly 40% over the past year, while total listening hours increased by more than 30%.

The company also said Audiobooks+, introduced just over a year ago, has attracted more than one million subscribers globally.

Spotify entered the audiobook market in 2022 and has since expanded the service alongside its music and podcast offerings.
