Pakistan Air Force Jets Escort Iranian President’s Aircraft Into Pakistani Airspace

ISLAMABAD, June 23, 2026: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter aircraft conducted a ceremonial air escort for the aircraft carrying the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, as it entered Pakistani airspace on Monday.

A six-aircraft formation comprising JF-17 Thunder and F-16 Falcon jets escorted the presidential aircraft shortly after its entry into Pakistan. The aerial escort was arranged as a gesture of official protocol and goodwill during the Iranian president’s visit.

According to the PAF spokesperson, the formation leader conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership and the people of Pakistan. The message reaffirmed sentiments of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.

Escort underscores bilateral protocol and military tradition

The PAF said the escort reflected standard protocol for visiting heads of state and dignitaries, a practice aimed at demonstrating respect and hospitality. It also highlighted the operational readiness of Pakistan Air Force aircraft, including the JF-17 Thunder and F-16 Falcon platforms used in the formation.

Officials added that such gestures form part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic and military tradition of welcoming foreign leaders and reinforcing regional ties.
