ISLAMABAD,  The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) organised a three-day blood donation camp at its H-12 campus in Islamabad, collecting 566 units of blood to support children suffering from thalassaemia who depend on regular transfusions.

The initiative was organised by the NUST Community Services Club (NCSC) in collaboration with the Jamila Sultana Foundation, bringing together volunteers and donors to contribute to a humanitarian cause.

According to the organisers, the Blood Camp 2026 recorded 803 registrations over three days, reflecting encouraging participation in the university’s community welfare activities.

The 566 units of blood collected during the campaign will help meet the transfusion needs of children living with thalassaemia, a hereditary blood disorder that can require regular blood transfusions to maintain healthy haemoglobin levels.

For many children affected by the condition, consistent access to safe blood is essential for managing the disease and supporting their long-term health.

Beyond the donation campaign, the Jamila Sultana Foundation also provides blood free of charge to NUST students and employees during medical emergencies, extending its humanitarian support to the university community.

The collaboration between NCSC and the foundation highlights the role of educational institutions in promoting voluntary blood donation and encouraging students to participate in community service.

Through initiatives such as Blood Camp 2026, NUST continues to support humanitarian activities aimed at addressing healthcare needs and strengthening social responsibility among its students and wider community.
