DHAKA: Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has been named the ICC Player of the Month following a series of impressive bowling performances against New Zealand and Pakistan.
The International Cricket Council announced the award for April, recognising the young pacer’s impact in international cricket.
Nahid Rana claimed eight wickets in three ODI matches against New Zealand during April, continuing his strong form after another successful series against Pakistan earlier this year.
The fast bowler had also taken eight wickets in the ODI series against Pakistan in March and later produced a match-winning spell in the first Test against Pakistan, helping Bangladesh secure victory.
First ICC monthly award for Nahid Rana
This is the first ICC Player of the Month award for Nahid Rana, who has emerged as one of Bangladesh’s leading pace bowlers.
He also became only the second male cricketer from Bangladesh to receive the monthly ICC honour after Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Nahid’s recent performances have drawn attention for his pace, aggression and ability to break partnerships in crucial moments.
