Recently, videos and photos of Abdul Ahad and his mother, Madiha Kazmi, went viral on social media as Madiha tied the knot after 18 years of being a single parent. The mother and son duo have now shared the details of her marriage in an interview.
Abdul Ahad revealed, “Over the past 18 years, many proposals came for my mother, and we encouraged her to consider marriage, but she always refused. One day, I came home from the office, and my mother mentioned a match that my sister Tooba had suggested—an older gentleman.”
Initially, Ahad didn’t pay much attention, as his mother had never seriously entertained the idea before. But a couple of days later, his mother brought it up again, saying she had spoken to the person and wanted Ahad to meet him as well. “It was challenging for me to process, but I realized she was serious,” he said. “At the nikah ceremony, even the officiant was moved, saying it’s rare for a son to act as a witness at his mother’s wedding.”
Madiha Kazmi shared her side of the story, saying, “My children were very young when I got divorced. For their sake, I decided not to remarry because, in our society, people don’t accept children from a previous marriage. I was scared to take that step.”
She added, “My first discussion with him was clear: if he would accept my children, only then would I consider marriage. I encourage all single parents to give life a second chance and consider marriage.”
Ahad admitted he was hesitant to upload the nikah video on social media, but after encouragement from friends, he decided to share it. “The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” he said.
