Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has said he remains fully fit, is bowling with good rhythm and is still ready to perform at his best as he continues to wait for a return to the national team.
Speaking after the Ranji Trophy match between Bengal and Services, Shami said players should never lose hope and should continue working towards clearly defined goals.
The experienced pacer said his participation in the Ranji Trophy also has a specific objective: helping Bengal win the title. He stressed that having goals and continuing efforts to achieve them are important in every field.
Shami last represented India in March 2025 during the Champions Trophy. He finished the tournament as India’s joint-leading wicket-taker alongside Varun Chakravarthy, with both bowlers taking nine wickets.
Since the Champions Trophy, Shami has continued playing domestic cricket across all three formats as well as in the Indian Premier League. However, he has yet to return to the Indian national side.
His latest comments indicate that the fast bowler remains determined to compete at the highest level and earn another opportunity with India.
