LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has said consistent performances and victories on the field are the only way to restore the reputation of Pakistan cricket.
Commenting on the situation following Pakistan’s defeats in the two-Test series against England, Yousuf said the debate over recalling players and coaching staff should not be viewed simply as a matter of performance.
He said discussions about bringing back former players should not be interpreted as replacing the current setup with legends such as Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq or Saeed Anwar.
According to Yousuf, the ongoing debate reflects deeper issues of disagreements, internal instability and controversies surrounding Pakistan cricket.
He said only sustained victories and positive results could silence the criticism and shift attention back to cricket.
Yousuf also noted that instability has repeatedly affected Pakistan cricket since the 1992 World Cup, arguing that such issues have often diverted attention away from the game itself.
“Pakistan cricket needs to focus on the field, not the boardroom,” Yousuf said, emphasizing that consistent performance and success remain the most effective way to rebuild confidence and credibility.
