England fast bowler Mark Wood has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 36 after a career repeatedly disrupted by injuries.
Wood represented England across all three formats, taking 253 wickets in 146 international matches, including 119 wickets in 38 Test appearances.
World Cup Winner With England
Wood made his international debut in 2015 and was part of England’s Ashes-winning team that year.
He later played a role in two of England’s major World Cup triumphs. Wood was part of the squad that won the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup.
During the 2019 World Cup, he claimed 18 wickets, while he finished as one of England’s leading bowlers in the 2021-22 Ashes series with 17 wickets.
Wood’s pace and ability to generate extra bounce made him an important part of England’s bowling attack across formats, although injuries repeatedly interrupted his international career.
His retirement brings an end to an international career spanning more than a decade.
