MARDAN: Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Mardan Jawad Ali has directed all relevant departments to utilize available resources and ensure effective coordination for the successful implementation of the upcoming Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign.

A meeting chaired by Jawad Ali reviewed preparations for the campaign, including the vaccination target, deployment of teams and coordination among government departments and other stakeholders.

Officials from the Health Department, Rescue 1122, Police, Ulema and other relevant institutions attended the meeting.

Participants were informed that the HPV vaccination campaign will begin on November 11, 2026, targeting girls aged 9 to 14 years to help protect them against cervical cancer.

A district-wide target of 35,134 girls has been set for the campaign.

To ensure coverage of eligible girls, authorities have constituted 17 fixed teams and 40 outreach teams that will operate in their respective areas.

Officials said 16 Union Councils have been identified as high-risk areas. Special attention and targeted strategies will be adopted in these areas to improve vaccination coverage and ensure the campaign achieves its objectives.

ADC Jawad Ali directed all concerned authorities to make full use of available resources and take effective measures to achieve the prescribed vaccination target.

He also emphasized close coordination among the Health Department, district administration, Police, Rescue 1122, Ulema and other relevant institutions throughout the campaign.

The meeting was further directed to arrange orientation sessions for relevant staff, Ulema and other stakeholders. These sessions will provide information about the objectives of the HPV campaign, the importance of vaccination and public awareness measures.

Jawad Ali stressed the importance of educating parents and communities about the benefits of HPV vaccination and its role in preventing cervical cancer, urging stakeholders to ensure that as many eligible girls as possible have access to the vaccine during the campaign.
