MARDAN: Commissioner Mardan Division Habibullah Arif has directed government departments to accelerate work on ongoing development projects in Mardan and Swabi and ensure their timely and quality completion, warning that negligence and unnecessary delays will not be tolerated.
He issued the directives while chairing a review meeting on development schemes in the two districts. Heads of relevant departments and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Officials from the Communication and Works Department, Irrigation Department, Local Government, Public Health Engineering Department and Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA), among others, briefed the commissioner on ongoing, completed and newly approved development schemes.
Commissioner Orders Faster Progress on Projects
Habibullah Arif directed the departments concerned to speed up work and complete ongoing projects within their stipulated timelines. He stressed that both the pace and quality of construction must be maintained.
The commissioner said he would personally monitor progress and conduct regular field visits to assess the quality and pace of work. Officers were instructed to provide regular updates and immediately report any issues that could affect project completion.
Special directions were issued to the Communication and Works Department and PKHA to expedite road and other related projects so that residents could benefit from improved and safer travelling facilities.
Alternative Traffic Arrangements Ordered
The commissioner also directed authorities to ensure proper alternative traffic arrangements during road construction and rehabilitation works to minimize inconvenience for commuters and the general public.
He instructed officials to immediately bring funding issues and other obstacles affecting development projects to his attention.
Habibullah Arif said he would raise such matters with the Planning and Development Department, Finance Department and other relevant forums to help resolve bottlenecks and prevent unnecessary delays.
Focus on Coordination and Public Benefit
The commissioner emphasized stronger coordination among departments to ensure that completed development projects deliver benefits to the public at the earliest.
He said timely completion of public welfare schemes was a key responsibility of the administration and relevant departments, directing officers to perform their duties with dedication, efficiency and professionalism.
