ISLAMABAD, September 15: Hundreds of Pakistani students and parents attended the Study in Malaysia Education Fair 2026 in Islamabad, exploring university admissions, scholarships and career opportunities as educational engagement between Pakistan and Malaysia continues to expand.
Organised by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), the two-day Islamabad fair on September 15 and 16 brought representatives of Malaysian universities together with prospective Pakistani students seeking undergraduate, postgraduate and professional study opportunities.
Students were able to interact directly with university representatives and receive information about degree programmes, scholarships, admission requirements, student visas, accommodation, campus facilities and student life in Malaysia.
University representatives also held one-on-one counselling sessions with students and parents to explain admission procedures and available academic pathways.
According to the organisers, several students moved forward with their admission processes during the fair after discussing programmes and eligibility requirements with participating institutions.
Malaysia Sees Growing Interest From Pakistani Students
The fair was inaugurated by Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dato Muhammad Azhar Mazlan, who highlighted education as an important part of the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia.
He said initiatives connecting universities and students could help expand bilateral cooperation in education, research, innovation and people-to-people exchanges.
EMGS representatives said Pakistan remains an important and growing market for Malaysian higher education, with Pakistani students increasingly exploring undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes in the country.
Malaysia has positioned itself as an international education destination offering a multicultural environment and academic programmes catering to students from different countries.
The Islamabad event gave prospective students an opportunity to compare universities and programmes while discussing scholarships, admissions and potential career pathways directly with institutional representatives.
Education Fair Heads to Lahore Next
The Islamabad edition forms part of a three-city Pakistan programme organised by EMGS to connect Malaysian universities with Pakistani students and families.
The programme previously held outreach activities in Karachi before moving to Islamabad.
Following the Islamabad event, the Study in Malaysia Education Fair 2026 will be held in Lahore on September 19 and 20, marking the final stop of its Pakistan programme.
Organisers said the nationwide outreach is intended to strengthen engagement between Malaysian higher education institutions and prospective Pakistani students.
The growing student-level interaction comes amid broader efforts by Pakistan and Malaysia to deepen educational cooperation and strengthen academic and people-to-people links between the two countries.
