ISLAMABAD: Secretary Special Investment Facilitation Council Jamil Ahmed Qureshi on Monday met Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Kane and Political-Economic Secretary Jaeger Koniundaris to discuss ways to deepen trade, investment and business cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral economic engagement by increasing investment flows, strengthening trade links and encouraging partnerships between Pakistani and Australian businesses.
Both sides also explored opportunities for greater commercial interaction, with particular attention to sectors where Pakistan is seeking increased foreign investment.
Qureshi briefed the Australian delegation on SIFC’s role as a whole-of-government platform designed to facilitate foreign investment, improve coordination among state institutions and connect international investors with viable opportunities.
He also outlined the council’s investor-focused facilitation framework and efforts to improve the overall business and investment environment.
The discussion highlighted potential opportunities for Australian companies to explore priority sectors and develop commercially viable partnerships in Pakistan.
Both sides identified stronger private-sector engagement as an important route for turning investment opportunities into longer-term economic cooperation.
Kane and Koniundaris expressed interest in strengthening economic and commercial engagement with Pakistan and exploring further areas of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting reaffirmed the two sides’ interest in expanding Pakistan-Australia economic relations through trade, investment and business partnerships.
