TIMERGARA, October 25, 2026: The District Administration of Lower Dir has issued directives prohibiting students from using mobile phones during school and college hours in all public and private educational institutions across the district.

The decision aims to maintain discipline, minimise distractions and ensure that students remain focused on their studies during educational activities.

According to the directives, students will not be permitted to use mobile phones inside educational institutions during academic hours. Principals and heads of institutions have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the orders.

The district administration has also introduced arrangements to maintain communication between parents and educational institutions in emergencies.

Schools directed to provide emergency contact numbers

Under the new instructions, every public and private educational institution must designate a landline number or an official contact number belonging to the head of the institution or an authorised staff member.

The designated number must be shared with all parents and remain accessible during office hours.

The arrangement is intended to ensure that parents can contact school or college authorities in emergencies or other necessary situations without students having to use personal mobile phones during classes.

Principals held responsible for implementation

The district administration has made principals and heads of educational institutions personally responsible for enforcing the restrictions.

District Education Officers (Male and Female), along with the relevant administrative authorities, have been directed to communicate the instructions to institutions under their jurisdiction and ensure their effective implementation.

The administration emphasised that the restrictions must be observed in both government-run and privately managed educational institutions throughout Lower Dir.

Officials said the measures were intended to improve the learning environment, promote discipline and prevent unnecessary interruptions during teaching activities.

The directives also seek to balance restrictions on student mobile phone use with the need for reliable communication between parents and educational institutions.

The district administration has instructed all concerned authorities to ensure strict implementation of the orders.
