Lahore court sentences man to 2 years imprisonment in Dubai visa fraud case, fines Rs500,000

Lahore — A court in Lahore has sentenced a man to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs500,000 in a visa fraud case involving false promises of employment abroad.

The conviction was announced by a special central court in Lahore after hearing a case investigated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which found the accused guilty of deceiving a citizen by offering a fake Dubai work visa.

Fraud case details and investigation

According to FIA Lahore Zone officials, the accused, Muhammad Boota, allegedly took Rs225,000 from a citizen by promising a work visa for Dubai. The case was registered in 2017 at the Anti-Human Smuggling Circle police station in Lahore.

Investigators stated that the case was pursued through legal proceedings by FIA’s legal team, leading to a conviction after years of trial.

Court verdict and penalty

The court sentenced the accused to two years of rigorous imprisonment, imposed a Rs500,000 fine, and ordered him to pay Rs300,000 compensation to the victim. Following the verdict, the court also ordered that the convict be sent to jail.
