The International Cricket Council (ICC) has informed member countries about changes and new dates for major cricket events scheduled between 2027 and 2031, including the qualification tournaments for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2029 World Test Championship final.
The men’s and women’s Olympic cricket qualifiers for LA 2028 are scheduled to take place in January and February 2028. Cricket will return to the Olympic programme in 2028 for the first time since the 1904 Games.
World Test Championship Final
According to the ICC, the 2029 World Test Championship final will be played in England from June 8 to 12.
The final is among several major international cricket events scheduled between the 2027 and 2031 ODI World Cups.
Olympic Qualification
The United States men’s team is in a position to qualify directly for the 2028 Olympics, while the participation of the US women’s team depends on meeting the required world-ranking criteria.
If the US women’s team does not meet the qualification requirement, the alternative team will be determined based on performances at the Women’s Champions Trophy in February 2027.
The women’s T20 World Cup 2028 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan from September 7 to October 1, while the men’s tournament will take place in Australia and New Zealand from October 12 to November 12.
