Dera Ismail Khan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has shifted payments for 43 public services to a digital platform as part of its move towards a cashless system aimed at improving transparency and convenience for citizens.

Officials said the services now available through digital payments include land mutation, issuance of land records (Fard), motor vehicle registration and token tax, university admission fees, and fees charged by various educational boards. The transition affects a wide range of citizens who rely on government services across the province.

The initiative is being implemented in phases by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board, which plans to convert a total of 170 public services to a cashless system. So far, 43 services have been made cashless, while another 23 services are expected to shift to digital payments by the end of January.

In addition to public service fees, the provincial government has also digitised salary and pension payments. Since October 2025, salaries of 280,650 government employees and pensions of 130,132 pensioners have been disbursed through a digital payment system.

Officials said work is also underway to bring autonomous bodies and authorities under the cashless framework, a process expected to be completed by December 2026. The government says the move is intended to reduce cash handling, improve efficiency, and facilitate citizens through modern payment methods.
